St. Ives Drive, Los Angeles, CA.

One of the required and prominent features of the new “extreme” homes in the Hollywood Hills is a spectacular pool.  The St Ives project, started with Bowery Development and subsequently with Gaskin Development, was developed on a site originally occupied by a home owned by the actor Richard Gere.  The original home, though very charming, was deemed out of date, and too small for its current valuable location.  We were asked to ‘remodel’ the original (none of which can be subsequently found in the final building).  The home, facing south, has commanding views.  We re-organized the home on multiple split levels to make the vertically organized home easily lived in, and open these levels into a dramatic interior of stunning volume.  The new pool stretches across the entirety of the southern edge of the living areas, and extends the livable areas of the home out towards the staggering view.
