1985: MArch , SCI-Arc./ Henry Adams/ AIA Gold Medalist.
1984 - 1999: Jay worked as senior project architect with the office of Eric Owen Moss Architects in Culver City. Projects under his responsibility included residential, institutional and commercial projects: The Central Housing Offices at the University of California, Irvine (National AIA Honor Award, 1988). The Lawson-Westen Residence, 1990 - 1993, The Pittard Sullivan Building (3535 Hayden Ave.), The Samitaur Building (AIA Honor Award), the Gary Group building (AIA National Interior design award), Trivida, and 3532 Hayden and 3534-36 Hayden Ave. His final responsibility was for the Stealth Building, which was completed in 2000.
Between 1984 and 2015 he was a faculty member at SCI-Arc, The Southern California Institute of Architecture. He was responsible for the creation of numerous technical design curricula, including courses concerning architectural design development, architectural technical documentation and production, creative uses of materials and the fundamental relationships between nature, culture, environment and technology. He has also has been a member of the design faculty at UCLA, USC, Art Center College of Design, Woodbury University and the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.
