VANOS ARCHITECTS

HAYWORTH AVE LOFTS, WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA.

The design proposal for 1350 Hayworth is located somewhere between landscape and idiosyncratic composite architecture.  This project is located adjacent to a Mid-Century Modern multi-family building which was recently placed on the Historic Register. Out project was designed with the concerns of the neighbors, and was thought of as a “landscape” structure from their point of view.  Green living walls, interspersed with glass in a vertical format were used to confuse the idea of a ‘building’ from their point of view.  The building design integrated landscape in wall, and roof design, along with green plaster and blue multi colored reflecting layers of glazing.  The front of the building presented an intentionally idiosyncratic iconography with a stone entry tower with a tree on its roof.
