DOHENY LOFTS, WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA.

The Doheny Loft project has been under development for a number of years. The project is located just north of Santa Monica Boulevard, across the street is the city of Beverly Hills.  The two sides of Doheny Drive are extremely different.  On the Beverly Hills side are single family homes, on the West Hollywood side (our side) are primarily multifamily and commercial structures, both of a great diversity of scales form single story to 12 stories. The developer had requested that we develop a number of alternative schemes for consideration.  Two are shown.  Both schemes utilize a carved block strategy, one with a landscape subtraction, the other with a strictly material architectural subtraction in glass and wood.
