CARMAN CREST RESIDENCE, LOS ANGELES, CA.

Because the City of Los Angeles is ringed by mountains, many of the areas surrounding the basin enjoy extraordinary views.  Carman Crest Drive is a ridgeline level, residential street in the area near the Hollywood Bowl and Griffith Park.  Runyon Canyon, an open-space canyon popular with hikers, runners and dog walkers is nearby.  The existing residence on Carman Crest is on a steeply sloping lot facing south east, with remarkable views of the city. It is a small single level home with 2 bedrooms built in 1957.  An area below the house was converted in to deck space.  Our client asked us to design an addition and remodel of the house, adding bedrooms and most significantly a pool.  Our proposal is to place the pool for greatest effect and use, at the level of the living room.  This places the pool 20 feet or more in the air.  Below the pool will be a new Master Suite.  The area directly below the existing house, currently being used as a deck, will be redesigned into two bedrooms.  Separating the Pool/ Master structure and the existing house will be a small garden.   The final home will have a pool at the living level surrounded on three sides by large decks, and 3 new bedrooms.  Construction is scheduled to start summer of 2016 and be completed by summer of 2017.
