WEST 3RD STREET  LIVE WORK LOFTS, LOS ANGELES, CA.

Third Street runs horizontally thru Los Angeles, connecting with all of the main north south commercial arteries. Our client owns a commercial building, built in 1960, just east of the intersection with Fairfax Ave and the famous Grove Shopping Area and Old Farmers Market.  The building has been in the same conditions since its birth, but now needs to be reconceived. We explored a number of options to breathe new life into this building. Programmatically the idea was to repurpose the facility as a cooperative office/ live work loft, with shared conferencing and office pool space on the ground floor and live work lofts on the upper levels. The exterior was designed with two options, one with a layered perforated screen, the second with a layered living wall/green screen.
